One of the first things I learned when I started writing online was the importance of finding a niche. I have spent years trying to find my niche. I can’t even tell you how many blogs I’ve started in the past 20 years. The truth is, I have no niche, and struggling against my natural desire to just write about whatever I feel like has decimated my desire to write. I’ve had countless passions and interests throughout my life, but writing was always the one constant up until a few years ago when I just quit. There’s no shortage of excuses for why I quit. I suspect that the biggest reason I quit is because I kept forcing myself to write about things I wasn’t interested in, which eventually made my passion wither up and die.
It’s time to reignite that passion. I miss writing. I miss connecting with people from all over the world. I miss exchanging knowledge and ideas. So, here it is: my shiny new blog. I dove right in and purchased a domain name to (hopefully) prove to myself that I’m serious about this.
This blog will serve as a place for me to infodump all of the random knowledge, resources, lifehacks, product recommendations, and information that I’ve accumulated throughout my life (or maybe even just in the past hour as I followed rabbit hole after rabbit hole and found a new special interest).
These are just a few of the topics that you might see here:
- Cooking: recipes, cooking hacks
- Money: tips for being frugal, ideas to save money, ways to earn money,
- Outdoors: outdoor activities, camping, hiking
- Psychology: living with C-PTSD, living with an anxiety disorder, mental illness in relationships, what I’ve learned from years of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Self-help: self-care, self-love, boundaries,
- Cats: probably mostly cat videos and memes, maybe some insight into cat behavior, products for cat owners
- Books: reading recommendations, booklists
- Libraries: working in a library, library ideas, how to use a public library
- Gardening: keeping indoor plants alive, landscaping ideas, removing invasive species, growing flowers, growing vegetables
- Neurodiversity: what it’s like to be autistic, what it’s like to have ADHD, being an AuDHD woman,
- Marriage
- Parenting: gentle parenting, parenting neurodiverse kids, family fun and activities, parenting hacks, products for parents, gift ideas for kids, child development
- Writing
- Researching: tools and resources for researching more effectively
- Lists of helpful websites
- Links to valuable resources
- And whatever else I feel like writing about.
Feel free to share your knowledge in the comments, or even to infodump everything you know about the subject, or to correct me if my information isn’t accurate.
Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to learn more about. If it’s something I’m already knowledgeable about, or if it piques my interest, I may hyperfocus on research it and write about it for a future post.
I hope you’ll find something useful here.
